Trenholm Road United Methodist Preschool (TRUMPS) has been a ministry of Trenholm Road UMC for over 40 years. TRUMPS provides full time childcare to children ages 6 weeks to 4 years in our preschool, as well as an afterschool program for grades 5K through 5th grade. Transportation is available from local elementary schools to TRUMPS during the school year. We also offer a summer program filled with weekly field trips.
At TRUMPS, we encourage social, emotional, spiritual, and academic growth. We offer spacious and stimulating learning environments for the children. Maintaining a low student/teacher ratio is a top priority. We believe each child, each parent, and each teacher is accepted as a person of worth and value. We recognize each child as a whole person, and provide for physical, intellectual, emotional and spiritual development. Through loving, nurturing interactions with parents, teachers, and peers, children learn to trust, be curious about the world and develop appropriate behavior and self- control.
Class Size
TRUMPS offers child-staff ratios better than those recommended by the SC Department of Social Services.

Our Teachers
Most of the teaching staff has been with TRUMPS more than 5 years.
All teachers are CPR and first aid certified.
Many teachers participate in TEACH, an early childhood certification degree program offered in partnership with the state, technical colleges, and child care providers.
How do TRUMPS children learn?
Our curriculum: We embrace that children learn and develop through play and participation in their environment. Therefore, learning activities will involve experience, participation, and manipulation. In addition, we know not all children learn in the same manner, so our program is designed to meet specific individual needs, developmental stages and interests. Each of our preschool classes enjoys music time and as the children get older, they attend Chapel.
Guidance and Discipline: At TRUMPS our goal is to help children develop “self-regulation.” This ability to make their own choices, to appropriately regulate their own behavior and to exercise their freedom in a responsible way is important to their overall development.
Parent involvement: Parent involvement in the preschool is valued, encouraged, and supported. Your child and your child’s teacher benefit if you are actively involved. Parents are encouraged to visit the classrooms, observe their children, participate in classroom activities and share special skills, hobbies and interest with the children.
Our parents say it best:
“The teachers in the infant room made it easier for me to go to work. I trusted that my baby was in good, loving hands.” Nicole McLean
“My child has been enrolled since he was an infant and now is in the 5K after-school program. He was well prepared socially and academically for Kindergarten.” Christine Kelley
“We decided TRUMPS was the best place for our kids because we felt like they would be treated as individuals.” Pam Gillam
